Questions for the agent
- Is wildfire covered in the proposed policy? Are smoke, ash, and soot subject to special terms?
- What is the deductible and how is it calculated?
- Does the settlement basis change for the roof or other parts of the home?
- If a FAIR Plan or separate fire policy is proposed, what does it leave out?
- What additional insurance is needed, and are there gaps between policies?
- Does the proposed policy meet the lender's requirements?
Keep emergency planning separate
An insurance file does not replace an evacuation plan. Use the evacuation preparation guide, sign up for local alerts, and follow instructions from the authorities responsible for your location.
